4x4 - Tow tuning
Diesel tow tuning, done properly.
Calibration written for utes and 4x4s that actually pull weight. Adelaide Hills, regional SA, station country, fully loaded.
A tow tune is not a power tune with a different name. It is a calibration written around the reality that the truck is under sustained load, in heat, often at altitude, with EGTs and trans temps already higher than the engineers designed for.
We re-map fuelling, boost and timing for rolling torque and clean response. We re-map the transmission so it stops hunting between gears on a long climb. We hold EGTs to a target that is safe in summer at GVM, not just on a cool dyno cell.
Every tow tune is validated on the dyno under load, and where practical we road test with a representative trailer or van.

DieselFAQ
Common questions.
- What does a tow tune actually change?
- Fuelling, boost and timing are re-mapped for response under load. Transmission shift points are re-mapped so the box stops hunting on hills. The result is rolling torque you can feel at GVM, not a bigger dyno headline.
- Will EGTs stay safe?
- That is the whole point. We tune around an EGT target you can live with on a 40 degree day, on a sustained climb, fully loaded. A tune that ignores EGT is not a tow tune.
- Does it affect fuel economy?
- Steady cruise economy usually improves or stays the same. The truck is doing the same work in a higher gear at lower load, which is where modern diesels are at their most efficient.
- What about the DPF?
- We do not delete DPFs. We do calibrate around them so they regen cleanly under your usage pattern, including towing.
- Which platforms are covered?
- Ranger, Hilux, LandCruiser 70, 200 and 300 series, D-Max, MU-X, Navara, Triton, BT-50, Amarok and Patrol Y62. Both pre and post DPF eras.
